At this time, the Deer Creek Canyon Shaded Fuel Break is planned to have two phases: a planning phase, and an implementation phase.
The planning phase will include environmental permitting and landowner permissions. Environmental permitting will comply with either the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) or California Vegetation Management Program (CalVTP). Permitting is expected to take 6 to 12 months after this phase is funded.
The implementation phase includes developing the individual fuel treatment plans with the forester and the property owner for fuel reduction on the property and then actually performing those activities. This will probably take several years. The Fire Safe Council is submitting applications for grants.
